Computer Is Slow – What Can Be Done?
Such a problem today: “My computer is slow”. This is something that all computer users will encounter at one point or another.
Help Ideas For When Your Computer is Slow
There are several reasons why your computer is slow and there are several ways in which to speed up PC. You may be having a clogged registry, or your computer may be having viruses and adware that interfere with system performance or you may have installed software that hogs system resources.
The first thing that you should do is clean your registry. Whenever you install and uninstall software, the invalid keys are left in the registry. These invalid keys make it harder for the computer to access keys that are valid and that is why your computer is so slow. Removing these keys will not affect your computer. You can get free and premium registry cleaners from the internet to help you remove these invalid keys and speed up PC.The next thing that you can do is to defragment your hard drive. It is normal for a computer to spread files all over the hard disk. This makes it hard for the computer to access vital files and you will find that your computer is slow. When you defrag the hard drive, these files are brought together to form contiguous files. This makes it easier for the computer to access these vital files and your computer will improve it performance. You can use the de-frag feature in Windows or you can get software to help you do this.
If your computer is slow you might want to check if you have the current anti-virus and adware updates. Most people will install the free tryout anti-virus software but this is not enough. Most of these free versions do not have all the features that are available in the premium versions. If you want to protect your computer fully, you should buy the premium versions. This way you will remove computer viruses and adware that is interfering with the system performance.
The monitor settings on your computer may make your computer slow down. If you do not have enough memory on you computer and you set the display for the highest resolution, then you may find that your computer is slow. Try to keep the display setting s at the minimum that is required to run your programs and you will speed up PC.
You should also check that you have enough RAM on your computer. As you install more programs, they use up more of you working memory. You can access the task manager by hitting Ctrl, Alt and Delete keys all at once. Under the system performance tab, you will be able to check on the usage of your RAM. If the system resources being used are above 70 percent, then you should add more RAM to your computer. This is easy to do and you may not need to go to a computer technician. If you are not conversant with removing and installing the RAM then you should take it with you and a technician will install the RAM for you.
